These are the only three categories the official site lists. There is no published child rate outside the family ticket, no senior rate and no free category, which we flag plainly because the door staff apply what the site states.

What the Ticket Covers

One entry covers the maritime museum, the prison museum, the Antarctic museum, the marine art museum and the gallery, plus the replica of the Faro del Fin del Mundo lighthouse. That is five collections in one former prison block, which is why the adult price sits well above the small provincial museum in town. No Web-Only Discounts Are Published

The official page lists no online discount, no advance-purchase price and no coupon. Unlike the national park, which gives a second-day discount on web tickets only, the museum prices the door and the web the same. A negative finding worth stating: no official page publishes a refund policy for museum tickets, so we cannot tell you the terms.

How the Validity Works

Enter on day one, keep the ticket, and walk back in on day two. The official site does not state whether the two days must be consecutive, so plan as if they are. There is no second scan fee and no published time cap per visit beyond the 19:30 last entry.

When a Second Visit Pays Off

Our pick: buy the ticket the morning you arrive, see the prison wing in about two hours, then return the next day for the Antarctic and maritime wings after a Beagle Channel sailing. The channel trip gives you the real sea, the islands and the Les Éclaireurs lighthouse, and the museum gives it all the historical frame. Splitting the visit this way keeps each day under three hours of museum walking, which matters with children.

The 11:30 Spanish Tour

A guided tour in Spanish runs daily at 11:30 and is included in the entry. It is the only guided time published. English speakers visit the cell blocks unguided, with the wall panels and the audio-free exhibits doing the work.

If you read Spanish at all, time day one for 11:30 and join it, then return unguided on day two.

Hours and Last Entry

Doors open daily at 10:00 and close at 20:00, with last entry at 19:30. The evening window is the calmest after the day tours disperse, and in summer the light holds long enough to walk back along the port afterwards. On a cruise day the midday hours get busy, so our estimate is that the first hour after opening is the quietest of the day.

The two museums are different animals. One is a private foundation in a national historic building with five collections. The other is the provincial museum service, split across Maipú 173 and the former Government House at Maipú 465, and it reprices often, so treat its figure as a moving target.

Our pick for a tight budget or a rainy Sunday, when the provincial museum is the one open with variable hours possibly running: the Fin del Mundo at a fifth of the price. Our pick for families: the ARS 110,000 ($72.90) family ticket, which beats two adult entries plus child prices once there are two children, since no separate child rate is published for the Marítimo. Getting There

The museum stands at Yaganes y Gobernador Deloqui, by the port, at about -54.8054, -68.3053. From the cruise terminal it is a short flat walk through the port block, and from San Martín it is a few minutes downhill. Anyone arriving by air lands about 7 km away, 10-15 minutes by taxi per the airport operator, so the museum is an easy first or last stop on an arrival day.

How Buying Works

The normal practice is to buy at the door the day you go, and the door sells every published category including the family and student tickets. A negative finding: the official site does not describe its web sales flow, cancellation terms or refund policy in the pages we checked, so we cannot state them. Do not buy museum entry from third parties expecting a discount, because no reseller on this page sells it at all.

Time Needed

Plan about two hours for a first pass, more if you join the 11:30 Spanish tour or read every panel in the Antarctic wing. With the two-day ticket there is no reason to rush, and returning on day two halves each visit.

Rainy-Day Pairing

The museum is the best all-weather block in town, and it pairs naturally with a late-afternoon city ride. The doubledecker loop runs 75 minutes with an audio guide in eight languages, and the panoramic city train runs one hour along the coast, both out of the wind. When the rain clears, the short walks around town in our one-day itinerary pick up where the cell blocks leave off.

Accessibility

Not stated. No official page publishes step-free access details, lift information or a map of which cell wings are reachable by wheelchair. Ask at the door on arrival, since the building is a five-wing former prison and levels vary.
